Revolutionising pension communications

While automatic enrolment means that more people than ever before are saving into a workplace pension, many people are still confused. Recent data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows that UK savings are the lowest on record since 1963. However, people do want to save more – they just need more help from employers, trustees and pension providers.

Challenge

Following research from the industry looking at what was limiting pension providers to improve engagement with members, PQM realised that there was need for guidance on good communications practice. Responsibility was often in the hands of those who were experts in pensions, but not necessarily communication. They were looking for a central resource that introduced them to all the various aspects of engagement.

Solution

Landscape wrote, designed and built the Good Communications Guide, a free website that includes insights, tips and tools to improve pension engagement. It is optimised for use on desktops, tablets and mobiles and includes contributions from Baroness Ros Altmann, former Minister for Pensions Sir Steve Webb, amongst other leading workplace saving commentators.

Since launch, the guide has had nearly 10,000 views by senior trustees, pension managers and consultants.

Impact

The launch and content updates was featured extensively in the press. Since launch, the guide has had nearly 10,000 views by senior trustees, pension managers and consultants, with many returning to access new content. Feedback direct from the site requested further information, so we now host workshops, pulling in experts to share their experiences and examples.
